Overview

The Olson Group, Ltd. (OGL) Given a very compressed development timeframe moved from concept phase through exercise development and execution in six (6) weeks to create the Maryland Statewide Pandemic Influenza Response Exercise. This undertaking included Full-scale, Functional, and Tabletop exercise elements at over 40 locations throughout the state, all conducted and evaluated over a three-day period in June 2010.

The exercise elements included the command, control, and coordination activities of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Department Operations Center (DOC), Hospital Incident Command System Operations, Medical Surge response, epidemiologic processes and communications methodologies, and establishment and conduct of Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) activities to support mass prophylaxis immunizations. Addressed concerns included compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1994, implementation of social distancing strategies, and contingency operations for medical countermeasures dispensing.

The exercise activities included dozens of OGL controllers, evaluators, and a robust Simulation Cell, working in concert with Public Health and Public Safety stakeholders throughout Maryland.
