National Capital Region (NCR) SWAT

Overview

OGL developed and conducted a multi-agency/multi-incident full scale exercise with two dozen SWAT teams within the Washington, DC region.

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Subcommittee held a full-scale exercise on April 26, 2017 to test the National Capital Region (NCR) Coordinated Tactical Response Plan. This exercise was the second exercise in the 2016- 2017 NCR SWAT Exercise Series and was preceded by a tabletop exercise in the fall of 2016. A total of 24 tactical teams from across the National Capital Region staged at three locations and responded to a complex coordinated attack at six different sites in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. At each of the incident sites, responding teams encountered a variety of threat scenarios, including active threats, ambushes, hostages, barricades, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
