Overview

The Olson Group, Ltd. (OGL) Under contract with DC Department of Transportation, OGL has been providing exercise support service to the team dedicated to the DC Streetcar.

In 2014, OGL designed and developed, conducted, and evaluated a tabletop exercise and a full-scale exercise for the DC Streetcar. The DC Streetcar Tabletop Exercise addressed the coordination and decision-making among local officials in the Washington D.C. area in response to an incident between a DC Streetcar and a motor vehicle. The full-scale exercise tested the response to a streetcar vehicle collision, which provided first responders an opportunity to demonstrate new plans, policies, and procedures in a realistic environment.

In 2015, OGL developed and designed a response Drill for DDOT to practice the response to a streetcar striking a pedestrian along the streetcar route. The DC Streetcar Drill addressed the appropriateness of existing plans, coordination, and decision-making among local officials in the Washington D.C. area in response to an incident between a DC Streetcar and a pedestrian. The Drill tested the response to a streetcar vehicle accident, which provided first responders an opportunity to demonstrate new plans, policies, and procedures in a realistic environment.

In 2016, OGL designed and developed a response Drill for the Streetcar in response to an Improvised Explosive Device being placed on the track. The exercise aimed to demonstrate the district’s ability to coordinate and manage integrated communications amongst internal and external organizations in response to an improvised explosive device on the DC Streetcar track.
