Biography

Zachary Pope has over 15 years of emergency management professional experience, including providing supervision, project management, fiscal oversight, educational delivery, and organizational management expertise.  He has served communities by supporting their well-being, safety, and security.  He is deliberate and strategic in using analytics to support organizations to perform more efficiently and effectively through innovative approaches in emergency management.

Mr. Pope has supported organizations and communities ranging from 100 employees to over 50,000 members in a variety of capacities.  Zachary is considered a subject matter expert in higher education and primary/secondary education emergency management, safety, security, and risk management.  Mr. Pope has managed National Security Special Events (NSSE) like nationally televised presidential town halls, developed curriculum for workshops and training courses, conducted exercises ranging from discussion-based workshops to operations based full scale exercises, supported the management and logistics of a large school districts response to COVID-19, and developed organizations first continuity of operations, family assistance center, and emergency operations plans.

As a Certified Emergency Manager with the International Association of Emergency Managers, Mr. Pope served as the first Vice Chair of the Association’s K12 Caucus and was part of the steering committee and subsequent leadership team to create the first College and University’s Caucus for the Virginia Emergency Management Association.  Zachary has presented on behalf of the National Governor’s Association Health Convening Panel on School Threat Management and is a graduate of the Advanced Threat Assessment Academy from Gavin De Becker and Associates.
